JOB SUMMARY
The Grounds Maintenance Tech is a key person in establishing the first impression with our customers (patients, visitors, city residents, physicians, all CCH staff, and other external customers), by directly establishing and maintaining the external appearance of CCH grounds and properties to have a positive impact on the public. Working under the supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, performs all duties required to develop and maintain lawns, landscape areas, trees, shrubs, parking lots, entrances, and other areas, and during the winter months, is the primary responder for snow and ice removal and other related duties to provide a clean and safe environment. This position also completes maintenance and repair on all grounds and snow removal equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Mows, trims, weeds, waters, and fertilizes lawn areas, trees, and shrubs per schedule. Initiates changes, as needed, to ensure health and appearance of each.
- Performs maintenance and repairs on sprinkler irrigation systems including wells, valves, electrical boxes, piping, and coverage areas to ensure proper operation of system and effectiveness of sprinkler system.
- Mixes chemicals as needed for lawn/ plant growth and insect control, as appropriate for the conditions and allowances of the city/ county/ state. Records data, reports, etc. to maintain chemical inventory and treatments of areas.
- Plows, shovels, sweeps, de-ices parking lots and sidewalks to ensure, as much as possible, safe and clean driving and walking surfaces for patients, visitors and staff.
- Uses personnel protective equipment (PPE) as required for the protection of self and others. PPE includes, but is not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, equipment guards, etc.
- Prioritizes the scheduling of all duties, activities.
- Encourages cost savings for the department and organization.
- Provides excellent customer service.
- Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- High school graduate or GED.
- License
- Applicator's license preferred. Licenses or certificates to operate applicable equipment required.
- Experience
- Previous related experience preferred.

- Ability to learn how to calibrate equipment.
- Ability to learn how to work on and operate mechanical equipment.

- Computer knowledge including the ability to enter material into electronic record. Ability to operate fax, computer, and copy machine to perform the duties of the position.
